Yoan Mudry

Yoan Mudry (b. 1990, Lausanne, Switzerland) lives and works in Geneva. His meticulously detailed paintings question the stream of pop culture images and narratives that pervade contemporary culture. At the core of his research lies the conditions of reappropriating these images. In Mudry’s projects, most of the familiar touchstones of contemporary artistic production – the exhibition opening, the catalogue, the retrospective – are all challenged.Through reappropriation and often seemingly idiosyncratic subject combinations, Mudry questions the mechanisms of contemporary image distribution.
